Love's Whirlpool
From midnight until 5 a.m., four ladies and four men congregate in a posh split-level apartment in Roppongi, Tokyo's nightlife zone. They've all paid to be there (men more than ladies), and they all want anonymous sex. They go by their types instead of names: freeter (temporary or part-time worker), mild-mannered salaryman, duplicitous OL (office lady), self-conscious working-class factory worker, perfectionist teacher, veteran pervert, shy NEET ("not in education, employment, or training"), and bashful college student. In a night of growing debauchery, they work out their identities together. Daisuke Miura's version of his critically acclaimed 2005 play of the same name delves into Japan's fuzoku (sex industry) with nuance, satire, and unbridled depravity. Sosuke Ikematsu and Mugi Kadowaki star in this startling, sexy, and frightening drama about two people who are enticed to blend love and sex.
