Professor Henri Laborit discusses behaviorist theories of survival, combat, rewards and punishment, and anxiety through the stories of three people's lives. Anxiety from corporate reduction is making René a technical manager at a textile mill. Janine, a self-taught actress and hairstylist, discovers that her lover's wife is dying and must decide whether or not to let them to be together again.
