Satantango

Residents of a small town in Hungary cope with the fallout from Communism. The town's main source of income, a factory, has closed, and the residents, which include a doctor and three couples, are waiting for a cash settlement. Irimias, a villager supposed to be dead, reappears and turns out to be a police informant, unbeknownst to the locals. He concocts a plot to encourage the peasants to join him in forming a commune.
