The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman
A New York journalist arrives in Bayonne, Louisiana, in February1962, to interview Jane Pittman, who has recently turned110, as the civil rights movement enters the city. She tells him about her life before servitude, beginning with her earliest memories. The present-day battles of Blacks in Bayonne, encouraged on by Jimmy, are dramatized in between tales of her life.
