The Big Blue
In this romantic fantasy-adventure, two men embark on a journey to answer the call of the sea. Friends from childhood, Jacques and Enzo are two individuals who have a mutual interest in the high-risk activity of free diving and have been inseparable throughout their lives. Jacques, a professional diver, made the decision to follow in the footsteps of his father, who passed away at sea when Jacques was a young boy. To the astonishment of researchers, Jacques possesses a remarkable ability to adjust his heart rate and breathing pattern while submerged in water. As a result, his vital signs more closely resemble that of dolphins than men (he even considers a school of dolphins as his extended family). During the time that Enzo is convincing a hesitant Jacques to compete against him in a free diving contest — determining who can dive deeper and longer without using scuba gear — Jacques meets Johana, a beautiful insurance investigator from the United States, and he discovers that he must choose between his love for her and his love of the sea. Enzo is a free diver.
