The Bishop's Wife
An Episcopal Bishop, Henry Brougham, has been working on the plans for an extravagant new cathedral for months, with the hope that the majority of the funds will come from a wealthy, obstinate widow, as he has hoped. As a result, he has lost sight of his family and the reasons for which he became a churchgoer in the first place. Dudley, an angel assigned to assist him, appears on the scene. Dudley does his best to assist everyone he comes into contact with, although not always in the manner in which they would have desired. Everyone, with the exception of Henry, adores him, but as Christmas approaches, Henry begins to assume that Dudley is there to take his place, both at work and in his family's adoration, and he begins to doubt his own feelings for him.
