The Harder They Come

Ivanhoe Martin arrives in Kingston, Jamaica, looking for work and eventually secures a recording contract as a reggae singer despite some initial difficulties. He records his first song, "The Harder They Come," but after a bitter feud with a deceitful producer named Hilton, he quickly finds himself resorting to petty criminality to make ends meet. He distributes marijuana, assassinates several abusive officers, and establishes himself as a local folk hero. Meanwhile, his record is a chart-topper.
