Words and Music
Larry Hart (1895-1943) and Richard Rodgers (1902-1979) were songwriting partners, and this book tells the story of their journey together from their first meeting, through the bleak years and their breakthrough, to the success they achieved on Broadway, London, and Hollywood. Hart and Rodgers' partnership is evident in the lavishly choreographed numbers from both plays, the protagonists' travels to nightclubs, and the impromptu performances at parties. While Larry's love affair with Peggy McNeil ended in heartbreak, we also see the misery he feels and Richard's successful courtship of Dorothy Feiner.
