Alvin and the Chipmunks
Bagdasarian Productions in partnership with Ruby-Spears Enterprises from 1983 to1987, and DIC Entertainment from 1988 to1990, created Alvin and the Chipmunks, an animated television series starring The Chipmunks. It was the follow-up to The Alvin Show, which aired on NBC from 1961 to 1962. Miss Beatrice Miller, a human nanny, presented The Chipettes, three female Chipmunks. The Chipmunks was renamed The Chipmunks in1988, after the show's production company changed to DiC Enterprises. The Samuel Goldwyn Company released The Chipmunk Adventure, the Chipmunks' first animated feature picture, in1987, during the show's fifth season. The Chipmunks and Chipettes competed in a worldwide event directed by Janice Karman. The Chipmunks Go to the Movies was renamed in the eighth and final season. Each episode parodied a Hollywood film such as Back to the Future or King Kong. There were also several television specials based on the characters. Rockin' Through the Decades, a special from1990, was released. In the same year, the Chipmunks collaborated with other well-known cartoon characters for the anti-drug special Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue.
