British television documentary series Arena is produced by the BBC and shown in the UK. One of the top 50 most important television programs of all time, it has been running since October1,1975, with more than 500 episodes made by directors such as Martin Scorsese, Alan Yentob, Roly Keating, Frederick Baker and Volker Schlondorff. Artists, writers, and thinkers such as Bob Dylan, Amy Winehouse, Edward Said, and Eric Hobsbawm are among Arena's themes, as are artists such as Francis Bacon and Louise Bourgeois and theorists such as Jean Genet and V S Naipaul.
