Candy Candy
Candy Candy is a book, manga, and anime series from Japan. Candice "Candy" White Ardlay, the main character, is a blonde girl with freckles, big green eyes, and long, curly hair that she wears in pigtails with bows. In April 1975, the famous Japanese author Kyoko Mizuki wrote a novel called Candy Candy. When Mizuki worked with manga artist Yumiko Igarashi on Candy Candy, the Japanese magazine Nakayoshi became interested. The series was published as a manga series in the magazine for four years and won the first Kodansha Manga Award for shjo in 1977. Toei Animation turned the narrative into an anime series. There are also a few Candy Candy movies that were only ever shown in Japan.
