Life on Mars
Life on Mars is an American television series that debuted on ABC on October9,2008, and ran until April1,2009. It is a crime drama with elements of science fiction. It is based on the original British series of the same name, which won a BAFTA, and was produced by the BBC. Kudos Film & Television, 20th Century Fox Television, and ABC Studios all contributed to the production of the series as co-producers. The narrative of the series follows New York City police officer Sam Tyler, who, after being hit by a car in the year 2008 and losing consciousness for several years, comes to in the year 1973. The series veered between several other types of stories, such as thrillers, science fiction, and police procedurals, and managed to keep its primary storyline a mystery for its entirety. Even the main character was confused about his predicament. Gretchen Mol, Harvey Keitel, Jonathan Murphy, and Michael Imperioli were the other main cast members in this series. Life on Mars was well received by critics for its premise, performances, and portrayal of the 1970s; nonetheless, the show's viewership steadily declined following its premiere and continued to do so during a two-month break between seasons. On March2,2009, ABC made the announcement that it will not be ordering a second season of the show. On September29,2009, a DVD box set containing all of the episodes of the series was made available.
