Rocko's Modern Life
Joe Murray created Rocko's Modern Life. The Nickelodeon show ran from 1993 to 1996. Rocko's Modern Life is about an anthropomorphic, Australian-immigrant wallaby and his new life in O-Town. The show follows Rocko's American life and that of his companions, the gluttonous steer Heffer, the neurotic turtle Filburt, and Rocko's dog Spunky. Double entendres, innuendos, and sarcastic societal commentary are abundant. Joe Murray created the title character for an unpublished comic book series in the late 1980s and later presented it to Nickelodeon, which was searching for edgier cartoonists for their Nicktoons block. The network allowed writers creative flexibility to write for youngsters and adults. The animation is skewed. Murray chose many popular newbie voice actors, including Tom Kenny and Carlos Alazraqui. The show was the fourth to debut on Nick. Kenny said in an interview that "Rocko's Modern Life was the first break for a lot of folks"
