Shake It Up
Shake It Up is a Disney Channel sitcom that airs in the United States. On November 7, 2010, the series premiered. The show, which stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya and was created by Chris Thompson, follows CeCe Jones and Rocky Blue as background dancers on a local event called Shake It Up Chicago. It also covers their on-set and off-set misadventures, as well as their school problems and rising social prestige. Other main characters in the series include Davis Cleveland, Roshon Fegan, Adam Irigoyen, Kenton Duty, and Caroline Sunshine. The original plan for the show was for Disney to produce a female buddy comedy with a dancing element. After The Famous Jett Jackson and Sonny with a Chance, Shake It Up is Disney's third original series to adopt a show-within-a-show premise. Since So Random!, this is the only Disney Channel Original Series with more than six principal contracted cast members at the same time. Shake It Up's second season order was increased to 26 episodes on September 29, 2011, according to Disney Channel. Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance, a second soundtrack featuring songs from the series, was released on March 20, 2012. The season two finale, Made In Japan, was a 90-minute special episode that broadcast on August 17, 2012. On June 4, 2012, Disney Channel announced that Shake It Up had been extended for a third season and that Kenton Duty would no longer be a regular cast member but would make special guest appearances. Shake It Up is the third soundtrack.
