Sky King
Sky King is an American radio and television adventure series. Schuyler "Sky" King, an Arizona rancher and pilot, is the title character. The series was most likely inspired by a real-life character from the 1930s, Jack Cones, the "Flying Constable" of Twentynine Palms in San Bernardino County, California, though this claim is unproven. Despite the series' strong western aspects, King usually used his plane, the Songbird, to apprehend criminals and spies and find lost hikers. Though the planes utilized changed throughout the series, the subsequent model was not given a number and was still referred to as the Songbird. Penny, King's niece, and he lived on the Flying Crown Ranch near Grover, Arizona. Penny and Clipper were also pilots, albeit novice, and looked to their uncle for advice and supervision. Sky trusted Penny, a skilled air racer and rated multi-engine pilot, to fly the Songbird. Penny refers to Clipper as "my brother" in the third TV program, indicating that they are siblings. Herschel Burke Gilbert composed the majority of the score.
