Sons of Tucson
The film Sons of Tucson is a comedy about a family that tells the story of three boys who, when their true father is sent to prison, employ a charming, wayward schemer to pretend to be their father. What starts off as a professional connection develops into something much deeper and more interesting: a family that is unlike any other we have ever encountered. At the sporting goods store in their hometown, the three brothers track out Ron Snuffkin, played by Tyler Labine, who will serve as their surrogate father. As Ron Gunderson steps into the role of patriarch of the Gunderson family, he will be need to draw from a big bag of tricks and a wide range of skills in order to properly care for the Gunderson boys. Gary Gunderson, 11, is a bright and street-savvy leader who is every bit the con man his father is, and Brandon Gunderson, 13, is a gentle free spirit who simply goes along for the ride. Robby Gunderson, 8, is a loose cannon who does not respond well to authority. Brandon Gunderson, 13, is simply along for the ride. It's possible that Maggie Morales, played by Natalie Martinez and Robby's second-grade teacher, as well as the target of Ron's devotion, is the only consistent character in the lives of this peculiar quartet. In spite of the fact that Sons of Tucson is rooted in the day-to-day struggles that come with having just one parent at home, not everything in the Gunderson household is as it seems. Because neither side can afford to give up too much authority or independence, a continual game of chess between Ron and the lads will keep both sides on their toes.
