Space Battleship Yamato
The Japanese science fiction anime series Space Battleship Yamato features the namesake spaceship. It is also known as Space Cruiser Yamato to English-speaking audiences; an English dub and significantly modified version of the anime was broadcast on North American and Australian television as Star Blazers. The first two seasons of this version were shown in Greece as A between 1981 and 1982. A version in Italian was aired under the name Star Blazers in Italy, while a version in Portuguese was successful in Brazil under the name Patrulha Estelar and in Spain and Latin America under the name Viaje a la Ultima Galaxia or Astronave Intrepido. Yamato is Hideaki Anno's favorite anime and is credited with igniting his interest in the medium. Yamato was the first anime series or film to get the Seiun Award, a feat that would not be replicated until 1985's Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
