The Bletchley Circle
The Bletchley Circle traces the experiences of four ordinary women who, thanks to their unusual abilities, contributed to the successful conclusion of World War II. In this version of the story, which takes place in1952, Susan, Millie, Lucy, and Jean have all returned to their normal lives, humbly downplaying the role they had in producing important intelligence that contributed to the Allies' triumph and the shortening of the war. When Susan uncovers a secret code that may hold the key to solving a cold case murder, the authorities are skeptical of her claims. She swiftly comes to the conclusion that the only way she can begin to solve the killings and bring the perpetrator to justice is with the assistance of her former pals. In this fictitious account of wartime heroes who went unrecognized, "The Bletchley Circle" creates a vivid picture of post-war Britain.
