Urban Legends
Urban Legends is a 30-minute documentary-style TV show that aired in 2007 and was hosted by Michael Allcock. In 2011, David Hewlett took over as the new host. In each episode, three urban legends are acted out and shown to the TV audience. The audience is then asked to guess which one or two are true. There are people who can tell the story of each legend. In one or two fake legends, the people who tell the story are actors, but in the real legend, they are real people whose lives were changed by the story. Before the commercial breaks, each episode has two short stories that are kind of like quizzes. These are called "mini-myths." Each will start with the number and name of the mini-myth, then the story. After the commercial break, the answer to the mini-myth is given, and the rest of the show goes on as usual. Mark Dolan was the host of the show when it first aired on the Biography Channel in the United States, History Television in Canada, and FX in the United Kingdom. It has also been shown in Argentina, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Finland, Estonia, The Netherlands, Russia, Hungary, and Denmark. The series briefly returned to the Syfy network as a "Original Series" with new episodes beginning on Monday, April18,2011, before resuming its normal airing slot on Fridays at 10 p.m. The new episodes were exactly the same as the first ones, but David Hewlett from Stargate told the story. The show is now shown on both SyFy and Chiller as reruns and short marathons.
